Humboldt Bancorp Names Mills to Board of Directors

EUREKA, Calif., Nov 25, 2002 /PRNewswire–FirstCall via COMTEX/ —
Humboldt Bancorp (Nasdaq: HBEK), today announced that Steven R. Mills has been appointed to the company’s Board of Directors, effective Saturday, November 23, 2002. Mills is currently a Partner with DCA Partners, a mergers and acquisitions firm in Sacramento.

Mills currently serves on the St. Ignatius School Board and has previously been on the Boards of the Leland Stanford Mansion Foundation, the Access Capital/Sacramento Valley Forum, and the American Red Cross. He is a graduate of the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, and has been an Adjunct Professor of Taxation at San Jose State University and Golden Gate University.

Humboldt Bancorp had total assets of $1 billion as of September 30, 2002. Through its principal operating subsidiary, Humboldt Bank, it offers consumer and business banking services through 21 banking centers, principally in Northern California, including its Tehama Bank and Capitol Valley Bank operating divisions.
