Analyst – Job Description

If you are looking for a job as an investment banking analyst, you are probably smart and highly motivated. You can take those skills to NYC, work 120 hours a week, and make some friends while you make copies late into the night. Perhaps you already have. If you have already taken that path, or are thinking about it, please consider an alternative.

DCA Partners is a Sacramento–based boutique investment bank founded in 2001. We are a growing firm with an inverted staffing model comprised of senior level bankers with 20+ years of experience. We advise clients on M&A, equity and debt placements, restructurings and recapitalizations. Industries served include technology, healthcare, industrial and business services.

Position Summary

DCA Partners is looking for experienced Investment Banking Analysts for its Sacramento, CA office to work directly with senior bankers primarily on sell–side and buy–side merger transactions in a variety of industries. Analysts gain exposure to the Firm’s businesses and expanded knowledge of the investment banking industry, as they develop key analytical, communications, marketing and sales skills. This position offers extensive hands–on experience with deal flow and exposure to all aspects of the deal process.

We are looking for Analysts with the following attributes:

Team player – Being a team player is essential for success in most businesses, but especially when you work in a small firm. We are proud of our culture; all enjoy working together and intend to keep it that way.

Drive to excel – Regardless of the task at hand, we hire people who are driven to do it better than anyone else. Average just won’t cut it.

Work ethic – While we don’t believe working 120 hour weeks is any way to live a life, we are extremely dedicated. We go the extra distance for our clients, which means being focused and highly productive. To work at DCA, you have to be someone who rolls up your sleeves and gets the job done.

Communication – Unlike larger firms where you would likely have little if any client interaction, at DCA you will be part of 2–3 person teams directly interacting with clients. That means you have to be someone who is comfortable interfacing with senior executives. You need to be poised and able to articulate complex issues clearly, concisely, and convincingly.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting in the writing, design and preparation of client presentations, offering documents, management presentations and other materials used for presentations to prospective and engaged clients
  • Maintaining records and reports on the status of client transactions
  • Performing buyer and industry specific research
  • Performing financial analyses to support business valuation and the structuring of merger and acquisitions transactions

Important qualities include

  • highly developed analytical and problem solving skills
  • quantitative and qualitative abilities
  • strong interpersonal skills
  • presentation skills
  • the ability to handle multiple tasks while remaining attentive to detail.

Qualified candidates interested in this outstanding opportunity should forward an MS Word or PDF version of their résumé for immediate consideration.

Send your cover letter and résumé to careers@douglascurtis.com with ‘Open Analyst Position’ in the e–mail subject field.
