Associate – Job Description

Talented associate candidates can come from a variety of backgrounds.

Qualifications in the associate we are looking for include:

  • Top ranked 2nd or 3rd year Analysts currently at a leading investment bank who are postponing a return to B–School, or who are looking for a career move into investment banking—and have a desire to work in an environment where they will have exposure to all areas of the business, and access to, and daily interchange with Senior Management and clients; or
  • Outstanding 1st, 2nd, or 3rd year Associates from other Middle Market boutiques or the Bulge Bracket who want to fast track their career and join a firm on the move; or
  • Corporate Finance Associate Attorneys who want to sit on the other side of the table; or
  • A Big 4 transaction services accountant who has led numerous M&A transactions through the due diligence process

In all cases, we are looking for talent with:

  • A history of accomplishment — in and out of both school and work
  • Solid transaction experience and outstanding financial modeling skills
  • The experience and ability to lead, train and mentor Analysts
  • The motivation to excel and the ability to deliver outstanding results in a fast paced, non–stop environment
  • Strong academic credentials
  • Great communication skills and the desire to work in a team–oriented environment
  • Strong quantitative, analytical and computer skills including PowerPoint and Excel based modeling
  • Ability to analyze financial statements; financial projections; and perform business valuation analyses
  • High level of professional motivation, dependability, intelligence and disposition as a team player

As an Associate you will work as a generalist, supporting transactions across a range of industries. We are looking for candidates with solid transaction experience who can hit the ground running.

The Associate will work with senior bankers, assisting them with their development of client relationships and structuring financial transactions in strategic advisory services and capital–raising activities, including: acquisitions, mergers, divestitures, and raising capital via equity and debt securities.

The Associate will assume the lead role in drafting client pitch and presentation materials, M&A advisory and capital markets analytical support and modeling, as well as in conducting industry research and analysis.
